Iran's ambassador to international organizations, regarding the details of Iran's recent JCPOA negotiations, said Washington wants to take the nuclear deal hostage over missile and regional issues.

Iran PressIran news: Referring to the recent talks on reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Vienna, Kazem Gharibabadi said: "The Americans claim that they are ready to return to their commitments under the nuclear deal and lift sanctions against Iran, but their behavior in the negotiations does not prove this."

Gharibabadi said the United States and the Western countries are pursuing their own goals in the talks, which showed that they are still looking at the nuclear deal as a bridge to other unrelated issues, such as regional issues and the missile program.

According to Gharibabadi, “the United States linked the entire agreement with the acceptance of obligations by the Iranian side to hold negotiations on regional policy in the future.” Negotiations should be purely on the nuclear issue, and any irrelevant ideas must be removed from the agenda.

Gharibabadi stated that Iran's influence in the region and missile program will not be negotiable in any way.

Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations went on to say that the Americans have so far refused to lift some sanctions on Iran and have not yet provided any guarantees that the same behavior of the previous US administration towards JCPOA will not be repeated.

He added that the Americans are not willing to accept the important fact that all the existing problems are due to their hostile and destructive behavior and that they must first fulfill all their obligations, and only after verification, Iran will fulfill its obligations too.

In May 2018, during the presidency of Donald Trump, Washington unilaterally and illegally withdrew from the JCPOA, and since then, in addition to reinstating nuclear sanctions, it has also imposed extensive sanctions against Tehran. 219
