The Speaker of the US House of Representatives welcomed the nomination of William Burns for the CIA chief in the Biden-Harris administration and emphasized the depoliticization of the intelligence agencies is critical for the United States at this critical time.

Iran PressAmerica: On Monday, Joe Biden announced the nomination of William Burns, a former US diplomat, to be the new head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

"President-elect Biden has chosen a credible leader to serve as CIA director," Nancy Pelosi said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Democrats in Congress are looking forward to working with Ambassador Burns on a joint mission to protect the American people from all threats," she said.

Pelosi in her statement said: " President-elect Biden has chosen a trusted leader to serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.  Ambassador William Burns is respected on both sides of the aisle for his integrity, experience and commitment to keeping the American people safe."
