In a gesture of gratitude and solidarity, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Ghana, on Friday, 5 December 2025, distributed more than 200 bags of rice to Ghanaian families at its premises in the Airport Residential Area.

Why it matters:

The humanitarian initiative, led by the Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdalfatah A.K. Alsattari, was not merely a food donation.

It served as a sincere expression of appreciation to the Ghanaian people for their longstanding support, compassion, and friendship toward Palestine.

What is happening:

From the early morning hours, families gathered at the embassy courtyard as an atmosphere of warmth and community filled the space.

Mothers, fathers, and young people stood patiently in line, many expressing visible gratitude as embassy officials handed them the food packages. Several beneficiaries offered prayers and messages of goodwill for the people of Palestine.

Ambassador Alsattari, moved by the turnout, highlighted Ghana’s consistent support for Palestine during challenging times. He stated that the embassy felt compelled to reciprocate that kindness in a meaningful way.

What he's saying:

Alsattari said the donation symbolised the enduring connection between the two nations, a relationship rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and humanitarian principles.

“Ghana has been a true friend,” he said. “Today’s gesture is a modest expression of our appreciation for the love and solidarity your country has shown us over the years.”

The big picture:

The event, themed “Palestinian Embassy Returns Favor to Ghanaian People,” brought together community leaders, residents, and media representatives, who observed the strong sense of unity between the two peoples. Attendees described the moment as a reminder that even in difficult global conditions, acts of generosity and solidarity continue to stand out.

As families departed with their bags of rice, a lingering sense of gratitude and joy marked the end of the programme—reinforcing the longstanding friendship between Ghana and Palestine.
