If the Security Council is incapable of performing its duties, which entity is responsible for maintaining international peace and security, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs raised the question at UN.

Why it matters:

The Israeli regime, supported by the U.S., attacked Iranian residential and scientific sites. Yet the UN Security Council refused to condemn the aggression. A majority of the countries condemned the war on Iran.

The big picture:

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi participated in a briefing session with representatives from more than 110 countries at the United Nations on Monday evening local time to talk about the Israeli regime's 12-day war on Iran.

What he's saying:

Kazem Gharibabadi: “While Iran’s nuclear program has always been peaceful and under the strict and continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Zionist regime has been deceiving public opinion and the U.S. government for over thirty years with baseless claims about an Iranian atomic bomb. The question is: Where is this alleged atomic bomb?! Isn’t it utterly ridiculous that a regime with a record steeped in aggression, crime, and savagery, and possessing all kinds of weapons of mass destruction, accuses a country that is a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty?!”

State of play:

Israel has so far carried out more than 3,000 terrorist operations, displaced over seven million Palestinians, killed over 57,000 people in Gaza just within 2 years, and detained more than one million Palestinians.
