Tehran (IP) – Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed that Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, a veteran commander and military advisor in Lebanon, was martyred in a "terrorist attack" carried out by the Israeli regime.

Iran PressIran news: In a statement, the IRGC hailed General Nilforoushan as a decorated and honorable figure who had devoted his life to defending Iran and supporting regional resistance movements. He was among the ranks of those who served during the Iran-Iraq war and had since held several senior roles within the IRGC, including Deputy Operations Commander of the Ground Forces and Director of the IRGC’s Defense Sciences Academy.

"Brigadier General Nilforoushan's contributions to national security, the defense of the holy shrines, and the broader resistance front were a testament to his unwavering faith and sacrifice for the cause of liberating Al-Quds (Jerusalem)," the statement read.

The IRGC condemned the Israeli attack, vowing that the blood of their martyr would not go unavenged. In the same message, the IRGC extended its condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Nilforoushan’s family, and his comrades, as well as the people of Isfahan, his home province.

Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan was martyred along with Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of the Hezbollah resistance movement, in an Israeli airstrike on the evening of Friday, September 27 in southern Beirut.
