Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Leader's senior adviser on security and formerly the chief commander of the IRGC stressed that the US is at the highest level of vulnerability, passiveness, and erosion.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said that the US and the western countries have been presenting their standards as a model for the development of other societies and countries, but now the coronavirus crisis has indicated the reality of them.

Referring to the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the global economy, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said: "Initial outlook on the devastating economic impacts of the coronavirus in the US indicates a recurrence of the Great Depression of 1920, which lasted ten years and reduced global GDP by 15 percent."

The Iranian commander stressed that: "At present, the US is at the highest level of vulnerability, passiveness, and erosion.”

He went on to add that such conditions are a result of the strategic dilemmas that the US is facing in the regional and international sphere and its failure in the international arena compared to other powers in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Saying that the US aims to maintain its potential on the regional and global scale, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi noted that the US military's tools, in accordance with the recommendations of US military commanders, require conditions of calm and peace to overcome the coronavirus crisis.

"However, the inability and futility of the US' strategy will be highlighted if the current conditions continue," he added.

The number of coronavirus deaths in the US has exceeded 26,000 while number of confirmed cases surpasses 613,800.
