US sanctions against Iran violate UN Charter: Ambassador

Sarajevo (IP) - Iran’s ambassador to Bosnia Herzegovina in his note released on Monday called defeating COVID-19 as the international mission urging that US unilateral sanctions against Iran is contrary to the UN Charter and it is an immoral and inhuman act.

Iran Press/Europe: Iran's ambassador to Sarajevo, Mahmoud Heydari in a note released in some Bosnian media outlets on Monday, outlined the effects of US cruel sanctions on Coronavirus, saying the US unilateral and cruel sanctions have deprived Iranian people of their natural rights to utilize health care facilities.

He also added that cruel sanctions have blocked relief services provided to Iranian patients diagnosed with COVID-19

“Confronting the virus spread requires coordinated and collective efforts at the regional and global level to meet basic human needs and provide health care costs,” Heydari added.

In recent weeks, following the spread of the novel Coronavirus in Iran and around the world, some officials in some countries, including Turkey, Russia, Pakistan, and China, have called for lifting the US unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran.

Washington's unilateral and outrageous sanctions, which include basic items, and even medicines and medical supplies, have created many problems for the Iranian people, especially for those who suffer from COVID-19.

US President Donald Trump, however, insisted on Friday that he opposed lifting sanctions on Iran.
