Tehran (IP) - The 11th round of parliamentary elections and the first midterm Assembly of Experts' elections to be held on Febuary 21, the election that is democratic dimension of Islamic system in Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Under Article 62 of the Constitution, Iran's parliament or Majlis is composed of representatives of the people elected directly and by secret ballot. The law defines the conditions of those who are elected and those who elect and also the quality of the election.

The representatives are elected for a four-year term and arrangements have been made for the election of parliament members in the Constitution. Article 28 of the Parliament's Electoral law poses seven conditions for the candidates when they are registered:

Jamal Orf, Chairman of the Iranian Elections Headquarters, said, "Belief and commitment to Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran in practice, citizenship of the Islamic Republic of Iran, loyalty to the constitution and the progressive principle of wilayah Faqih, having at least Masters Degree or equivalent, lack of fame in its constituency, physical health to the degree of sight, hearing and speech, and having at least 30 and at most 75 years old. It is obvious that the candidates from other religious minorities are excluded from practicing Islam, they must believe in their own religion."

In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country's affairs must be governed by public opinion. Under Article 62 of the Constitution, Iran's parliament or Majlis is composed of representatives of the people elected directly and by secret ballot," he said, adding that "Every representative is responsible to the whole nation and has the right to comment on all domestic and foreign issues of the country.

"As you know, there are 208 main constituencies in the whole country and about 1,500 sub-constituencies," Jamal Orf mentioned.

The number of constituencies will be held for the election of 290 MPs and the first Assembly of Experts' midterm elections in 5 constituencies in Tehran, Fars, North and South Khorasan, and Qom provinces.

The election campaign for the candidates began on February 13 and continued for a week. 101/212
