Hamadan (IP) - The General director of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation of Hamedan province in western Iran has said the historic city of Hamedan, rich in culture, will host the coordination committee meeting to register the Silk Road as part of the world's heritage.

Iran PressIran news: The director general of Hamedan's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation said:  Iran hosts the coordination committee to register the Silk Road as part of the world's heritage, and the meetings will be held in the historic, cultural city of Hamedan.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press in Hamedan, Ali Malmir said on Sunday that university professors and officials in the cultural heritage field from 16 countries are set to participate in the meetings in Hamedan.

He added that the meetings have a significant role in promoting and introducing Iran's valuable cultural heritage to a wider world, including the historic sites of the city of Hamedan.

Earlier on Saturday 14 September, posters of the global meetings on the silk road were unveiled at a special ceremony attended by Ali Malmir and other officials.

The Silk Road meetings will be held in the northwestern city of Hamedan from 23 to 30 September 2019.
