At the BRICS meeting in South Africa, through a statement which was read by the country's Minister of Commerce, the President of China warned about the beginning of a new Cold War.

Iran PressAfrica: Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that the human society is coming to a critical juncture and has to decide whether to maintain peace and stability or slide into the abyss of a new Cold War.

Xi's remarks were made in a speech read out by Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao at the BRICS Business Forum 2023.

Emphasizing the need to strengthen the foundations of multilateralism in the world, the Chinese president said that the BRICS summit is very important and can achieve great success.

Iran, Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and many other countries want to join this economic group.

The 15th BRICS summit, a bloc of emerging economies of the world consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, will be held from August 22 to 24 in Johannesburg, South Africa. 219
