Iran Press/ Asia: Mevlut Cavusoglu told a joint news conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Istanbul on Friday that Turkey had supported Iran's nuclear deal from the beginning had contributed to its formation even before it was signed.
Referring to the US withdrawal from the JCPOA during the Donald Trump administration and emphasizing the need to lift sanctions against Iran and the US return to the agreement, he added: "Turkey is ready to support Iran in this regard."
Regarding establishing a 3+3 mechanism in the South Caucasus, which was the main focus of Zarif's visit to Turkey, Cavusoglu said: "A ceasefire has been established in the South Caucasus region, and we all want its stability."
He added: "The formation of a regional cooperation mechanism in the form of 3+3 was established at the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, with the support of the Presidents of Turkey, Russia and other regional leaders."
Cavusoglu said: "My brother Javad Zarif also visited Azerbaijan, Russia, Armenia, and Georgia before traveling to Turkey and discussed the issue with the officials of these countries, which will be evaluated today."
He added: "Peace, stability and normalization in the South Caucasus will benefit everyone, especially the government and people of Armenia." Therefore, we are waiting for the constructive steps of this country in this field.
In continuation of his regional tour to the Caucasus today, Zarif met in Istanbul with Turkish officials.
He arrived in Turkey last night after visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, and Georgia.
