Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at the University of Tehran on Monday during the second session of his series of lectures entitled 'World in Transition', Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to the US invasion of Iraq as one of the miscalculations of the great powers, noting: "It was clear from the beginning. This war will lead to the growth of extremism in the world."
Zarif called migration one of the most important current challenges in European countries, adding: "This challenge is fueling the fire of nationalism, extreme patriotism, economic inequality, and other problems; hence, there is a need for a global solution regarding poverty."
Referring to the issue of terrorism and the 9/11 attacks in New York, the Iranian foreign minister said: "Terrorism is also a global challenge, and no one can create security in the world alone. The security of each country is the security of others; therefore, creating security in the world requires the collective efforts of all countries."
"The security of one society cannot be created at the expense of insecurity for other societies," Zarif said, adding: "Some weapon-manufacturing countries in the world prevent other countries from access to real security."
The Iranian foreign minister added: "Some players, such as the United States, tried to take control of the situation with their previous rules and military superiority during the transition period, but their behavior led to disaster."
Emphasizing that the world is facing challenges that cannot be solved by the efforts of one country or one coalition, Zarif said: "Not paying attention to this issue has led to misunderstandings and miscalculations in the last 30 years."
