Ouagadougou (IP) - Apollinaire Kyelem, Prime Minister of the transitional power in Burkina Faso, was dismissed and his government dissolved, according to a televised decree read by the Secretary General of the Government.

Iran Press/Africa: The decree, issued on Friday, December 6, by the head of the military regime, Captain Ibrahim Traore, didn't give a reason for the decision.

"The members of the dissolved government abandoned the current affairs until a new government is formed," the decree said.

Apollinaire Kyelem, a 66-year-old lawyer known for his presence on television shows, was appointed as Burkina Faso's Prime Minister on October 21, 2022, after Captain Ibrahim Traoré's coup.

He advocated an anti-imperialist line of governance and a diversification of international partnerships.

As head of a former French colony, his only trips outside Africa have been to Russia, China, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Iran.
