The Brazilian government has published a document summarizing the priorities of its BRICS presidency, TV BRICS reported.

Why it matters:

BRICS is considered one of the most important economic organizations in the world startling rise of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The bloc had its first summit in 2009 in Russia. South Africa joined in 2010. In a summit of the bloc in Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 22 to 24, 2023 participants agreed Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to join the bloc from January 1, 2024. Iran joined the organization as an observer member in 2005 and applied for full membership a year later.
