Tehran (IP) – Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has expressed concern over the exploitation of human rights discourse for political objectives, calling it a major threat to the integrity and preservation of human rights globally.

Iran PressIran news: In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on the occasion of Human Rights Day, Baghaei highlighted the importance of safeguarding the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. However, he warned of the dangers posed by political manipulation.

“On Human Rights Day, humanity celebrates its remarkable achievement in adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. Nevertheless, the instrumental use of human rights discourse for political objectives, coupled with double standards and selective approaches, remains the greatest scourge and danger to the preservation of human rights,” Baghaei wrote.

He further noted that such practices threaten the cohesion and credibility of the global human rights framework, calling for genuine commitment to universal principles rather than politicized agendas.
