Iran Press/ Asia: Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Oshima, and Speaker of the House of Councilors Santo congratulated Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on his election as the Speaker of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) in separate messages.
The two Japanese officials also stressed the need for expansion and strengthening of bilateral cooperation and parliamentary relations between the two countries, the report added.
Qalibaf secured 230 votes out of a total of 264 votes cast to become the Speaker of Iran's Majlis (parliament).
