Iranian Foreign Minister heading a high-level delegation, arrived in Baghdad and then held a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and also the country's President Barham Saleh to stress security cooperation.

Iran Press/Middle EastMohammad Javad Zarif who is going to hold negotiations and consult with Iraqi officials, was welcomed by Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Nizar Khairullah upon his arrival, Iran press reported.

Zarif had meetings with Iraqi President Barham Saleh

Zarif is scheduled to meet with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Ali Al-Hakim and the country's Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi.

Relations between Iran and Iraq have expanded rapidly over the past few years despite a continuous campaign of pressure on Baghdad by the US government and allies in the region.

Iranian FM arrived in Baghdad while the US with deploying 1,500 soldiers has increased tension in the region.104/209
