Despite nearly 1,000 cars being set ablaze, hundreds of thousands of people in France welcomed the New Year with largely peaceful celebrations, according to Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau.

Iran Press/Europe: The French Interior Minister announced that a thousand cars were set on fire during the chaos of the New Year celebrations in the country.

French Interior Minister Bruno Retalo announced that 984 cars were set on fire.
According to the French Interior Minister, about 420 people were arrested, 310 of whom are in police custody.
Retalo stated that about 10,000 police officers were deployed in the French capital and are responsible for special security measures for the New Year celebrations.
In Strasbourg, a 15-year-old teenager was run over by a car and killed when he was alerted by the police.
A school was also set on fire in Alsace.
