Kabul (IP) - Some areas of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, have taken on a mourning atmosphere with the month of Muharram's arrival.

Iran PressAsia: Some of the areas of the Afghan capital are dressed in black to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS), upon the arrival of Muharram month. 

'Khoshhal Khan' quarter in Kabul is one of the areas of the capital city where the people are mourning for Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions by installing a black flag and attending the rituals.

Taliban forces arrived in Kabul on Sunday evening, and on their second day of operations in the Afghan capital, the forces are still stationed in various parts of Kabul.

In 680 AD, on Ashoura- the tenth day of the holy month of Muharram- Hussein Ibn Ali, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Imam of Shia Muslims, was martyred in the desert of Karbala, located in contemporary Iraq.
