Iran Press/Middle East: In an interview, Hassan Salem said that US drones hit the military base and stated that the government is obliged to respond immediately to these violations by the Americans, who have repeatedly violated Iraq's sovereignty.
He stressed that the government should implement the decision of the parliament to expel the US troops from the country as soon as possible.
Faleh al-Khazali, another member of the al-Fatah coalition, said the blasts in the al-Saqr base were most likely carried out by US regime planes.
He added: "There is evidence that the United States intended to attack the base.
The Al-Saqr base is home to Iraqi police and Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces (PMU).
The Iraqi Security Media Cell announced Sunday evening that two explosions took place in Baghdad's al-Saqr base, southern Baghdad.
The Iraqi source said in a statement that at 6:45 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2020, two consecutive explosions took place in the al-Saidiya area near the Hillah-Baghdad highway, in the al-Saqr base.
The Iraqi Media Security Cell attributed the incident to the explosion of the ammunition depot due to the extreme heat and improper storage of ammunition.
That fire also set off explosions heard across Baghdad, killing one person and injuring 29 others. There were no casualties reported immediately on Sunday. as Reuters reported.
Sources in Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces (Hshd al-Sha'abi) also questioned the cause announced by the Iraq War Information Center and the Joint Operations Command, linking tonight's blasts to the previous ones.
The United States and the Zionist regime have repeatedly targeted Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces positions in various parts of Iraq.
