Iran Press/ Middle East: Hundreds of Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Friday gathered at the Gaza border to participate in the weekly ongoing 'Great March of Return' protest.
The Director of Public Relations and Information at the Palestinian Ministry of Health tweeted that "medical staff dealt with 69 different injuries including 29 live bullets by Israeli Regime's soldiers in the eastern Gaza Strip," i24NEWS reported.
The ongoing Friday protests are part of a larger movement called the 'Great March of Return', where Palestinian activists gather at the border to demand the right to return to their lands they either abandoned or fled during the 1948 war.
Palestinian demonstrators demand an end to Israel’s 12-year-old blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has shattered the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its 2 million inhabitants of free movement in and out from Gaza.
Tensions between Israel and the coastal enclave have escalated in the past week. The Zionist Regime's forces attacked the Palestinians by launching strikes against targets in Gaza, with local reports saying that one Palestinian was killed in the strikes.
In retaliation, ten missiles were launched into Israeli settlements by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
