(IP) - The 69th Badarak Religious Ceremony in Kara Kilise will be held with 3,000 Armenians worldwide in the Monastery of St Thaddeus.

Iran PressIran news: The Monastery of Saint Thaddeus, known as Kara Kilise (the "Black Church"), is about 20 kilometers from Chaldiran. 

Chaldiran County is located in West Azarbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Siah Cheshmeh or Qara Aineh.

The Badarak is the core of Sunday worship in the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is the remembrance of the Last Supper, the meal Jesus had with his disciples on Holy Thursday, the night he was arrested, and the day before he was crucified.   

St. Thaddeus, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ (AS), suffered martyrdom in Armenia under King Sanatruk and is revered as an apostle of the Armenian Church.

A special religious ceremony called Holy Communion or Badarak is held in Kara Kilise with the presence of Armenians worldwide.

Mehdi Ebrahimzadeh, the deputy governor of Chaldiran County, during the coordination meeting of the annual religious ceremony of Kara Kilise in the presence of members of the Armenian Caliphate Council in Azerbaijan  province, said:" This year is the 69th year of the annual religious ceremony of Kara Kilise for three days from July 13 to 15, 2023 with the presence of Armenians worldwide."  

He announced that all necessary preparations for holding the ceremony had been made in the city.

Shirley Avdian, Director of Historical Churches of Iran, announced in the meeting that Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood and added: "The religious ceremony of the Armenians of Iran and the world every year in the Kara-Kilise shows the peaceful life of different ethnic groups and religions in Iran."
