China (IP) - Two Iranian Greco-Romance wrestlers managed to ascend to the finals of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Iran PressAsia: The members of the Iranian sports squad have so far managed to achieve 36 medals in the 2022 Asian Games underway in Hangzhou, China.

The Greco-Roman wrestling competitions in the first 4 weight categories are being held today, Wednesday; so far, from Iran, Amin Kavianinejad reached the finals after defeating his rivals from South Korea, Uzbekistan, and China in the 77 kg weight categories. 

Also, in the 87 kg weight category, Nasser Alizadeh overcame his Kyrgyz, Turkmen, and Indian rivals, thus going to the finals. 

Meisam Delkhani, another Iranian wrestler in the 60 kg weight category, however, was overcome by a Kazakh rival and failed to ascend to the finals; Delkhani must try to win the bronze medal. 

Daniyal Sohrabi also failed to win over his Kazakh rival in the 67 kg weight category. 

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the 2022 Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.

The event has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will now take place in 2023.
