Mehdi Taremi, the Iranian striker, has completed a move to Italian champions Inter Milan.

Iran Press/Europe: Taremi was born on 18 July 1992 in Bushehr, a port city that overlooks the Persian Gulf.

The transfer marks a new chapter in the career of the seasoned international, who has honed his skills over the years while drawing inspiration from legends like Ronaldo and Ali Daei.

Taremi's footballing journey began at the youth academy of Bargh Bushehr in 2002, before he moved to Iranjavan, the biggest club in his hometown. As a young striker, he idolized the likes of "O Fenômeno" Ronaldo and Iran's all-time leading goalscorer Ali Daei, who would later become his coach at Persepolis.

It was at Persepolis that Taremi's career truly took off. Over three and a half seasons, he netted 55 goals in 112 matches, winning the Iranian League twice, the Super Cup once, and finishing as the top scorer on two occasions. This prolific form earned him a move to Qatari side Al-Gharafa in 2018, where he played alongside Nerazzurri legend Wesley Sneijder and won the Qatari Stars Cup.

Taremi's next step was a move to Europe, joining Portuguese club Rio Ave in 2019. There, he finished as the Primeira Liga's top scorer in the 2019/20 season, before securing a transfer to Porto. It was with the Dragões that Taremi truly cemented his reputation as one of the continent's most lethal strikers, scoring 91 goals over four seasons and winning a host of domestic trophies, including three Portuguese Cups and as many League Cups.

Taremi's exploits at club level have also translated to the international stage. The 31-year-old made his debut for Iran in 2015 and has since scored 50 goals in 85 appearances, representing his country at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. His brace against England in Qatar was a particular highlight.

Now, Taremi embarks on a new challenge with Inter Milan, becoming the first Iranian player in the club's history. His technique, character, and desire to take on new adventures - much like the legendary Sinbad the Sailor - will undoubtedly make him a valuable asset for the Nerazzurri as they look to defend their Serie A title and make a deep run in the Champions League.
