Tehran (IP) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Iran and Russia as a predominantly economic agreement, reflecting a shared vision for closer collaboration in key areas such as trade, tourism, transportation, and energy.

 

Iran PressIran news: The treaty was signed in Moscow during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s official visit to Russia, where he met with President Vladimir Putin. The signing ceremony, held at the Kremlin on Friday, marks a new chapter in the deepening ties between the two nations.

A Comprehensive Framework for Cooperation

Araghchi elaborated on the treaty’s significance, stating, "This treaty encompasses all dimensions of bilateral relations, from economic to cultural and scientific cooperation. It creates a robust foundation for enhancing relations across all sectors."

He emphasized that the treaty provides a structured framework for expanding collaboration in diverse areas, including judicial, legal, and communication domains. "The nature of this treaty is primarily economic," Araghchi said, "but it also touches on nearly all aspects of our bilateral ties."

Strengthening Strategic Alignment

The agreement comes at a time of shifting global alliances and shared challenges for both Tehran and Moscow. 

“Our relations have been strong, and with this treaty, we hope to see even greater progress in economic, political, and cultural cooperation,” he added.
