The association's founding statement states: This is a voluntary, non-governmental, and non-profit association composed of Serbian citizens and aims to develop friendly relations and cooperation between the people of the Republic of Serbia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Why it matters:
In recent years, Iran's relations with Serbia, which had cooled during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to Iran's support for Muslims in Bosnia, have become warmer than before.
Serbia's support for the Islamic Republic's positions in recent years and the political, economic, commercial, cultural, movie, agricultural, and sports relations between the two countries, as well as the political ties that Serbia and its officials have with the choice of "Looking East" to Iran, have brought these relations closer, the peak of which was manifested in the media when the wife of the president of that country participated in the World's "Influential Women" Congress in Tehran on Jan. 20, 2023.

Amir Pourpezashk, Cultural Counselor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a meeting with the members of the Board of Directors, considered the establishment of the Association the result of the will, love, and interest of all members for Iran and said: Today is a great day in the cultural relations of the two countries and a turning point.
He expressed his hope that the Association, as a dynamic, active, and progressive entity, will play an effective role in promoting and strengthening relations between the two countries.
