Iran Press/ Middle East: Bolton claimed on Wednesday that Iran was “almost certainly” behind an attack that targeted four oil tankers off the coast of Fujairah.
Speaking to journalists at a press briefing in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi, Bolton also alleged that Iran was behind a failed attack on the Saudi oil-port of Yanbu. Iran used “navel mines” to carry out the attack on the oil tankers, Bolton said, without going into details, RT reported.
Four commercial vessels including oil tankers were allegedly attacked near al-Fujairah port in the United Arab Emirates on May 12.
Al-Fujairah is one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE has described the incident as an act of sabotage, without providing any details on the nature of the attack, other than saying there were no casualties. Saudi Arabia said two of its oil tankers have been targeted.
Tehran has denied any involvement in the alleged sabotaging and has requested more information about exactly what happened off the UAE’s coast. 101/211
