Iran Press/Iran News: Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister, Khaled Al-Jarallah, has expressed hope that recent tensions in the region will be resolved at the negotiating table.
He said the recent visit by the Omani foreign minister to Tehran and contact between Muscat and Washington is a sign of diplomatic activity to reduce regional tensions and start a dialogue, Iran Press reported.
Asked whether recent events in the [Middle East] region reminds him of the North Korea - US scenario, Jarallah said: "The North Korea scenario has been a successful one, and I hope recent tensions will be resolved at the negotiating table."
In further comments the Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister said it is likely that negotiations have started already, contacts have already been made, and Kuwait supports diffusion of tensions in the region.
Commenting on Iraqi diplomatic activity, Jarallah said: "The Iraqi prime minister deputy is trying to mediate and initiate diplomacy to reduce tensions and Kuwait certainly welcomes that." 101/211
