Iran Press/Middle East: Iraq’s gas imports from Iran will reach 32 million cubic meters per day within the upcoming nine months in January 2020 from its current 28 million cubic meters per day.
Ceasing gas imports from Iran will decrease Iraq's electricity generation by 4,000 megawatts, Iraqi Alsumaria TV network reported.
There is not any other replacement for Iraq to substitute Iranian gas, the Iraqi ministry announced.
On 31 March, the Managing Director of South Pars Gas Company, Hadi Hashemzadeh Farhang announced that the production of natural gas in the largest Iranian gas field has increased by 12%.
According to Farhang, last year gas extraction for the South Pars field increased by 7% compared to the year before.
South Pars has 14 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and 19 billion barrels of gas condensate, which is equivalent to 50% of the country's overall reserves and 8% of the world's total gas reserves. 105/205/213
