Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi on Monday called for expansion of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields.

Iran Press/Middle East: He made the remarks during a meeting with Iran's visiting President Hassan Rouhani who is in the country at the head of a high-profile economic-political delegation.

Welcoming the Iranian delegation, Abdul-Mahdi expressed the hope that the visit would help deepen and bolster relations between the two neighboring states in all fields in line with both side's security and stability, Iran Press reported.

He also referred to expansion of cooperation in fight against terrorism, strengthening of efforts to maintain security and stability and expansion of economic and commercial cooperation as issues which are of mutual interest.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in oil, agriculture, reconstruction, investment, health, transportation, setting of joint industrial zones and border passages.

A number of Iranian officials along with Iran's Ambassador to the country Iraj Masjedi were present in the meeting.
