Iran Press/Middle East: Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation, saying that it is standing next to Palestine and resistance movement in the fight against Zionist regime’s occupation and aggression.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with representatives of the Palestinian groups in Iran’s Embassy in Beirut on Sunday night, IRNA reported.
Iran's Foreign Minister recalled that supporting Palestine is among major policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Zarif also described Zionist regime's aggressive policies against Palestine and other countries, which are carried out with full US backing, as a big threat to the region.
Representatives of the Palestinian groups also appreciated Iran’s stance in support of Palestine, reiterating that the Palestinian nation’s motivation for resistance has increased over the past year because of Donald Trump's ‘deal of the century’.
Ali Feisal, from Democratic Front for Liberation of Palestine, Abdelaziz al-Minavi, a member of Islamic Jihad Political Office, Ehsan Ataya, representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in Lebanon, Talal Naji, deputy secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine were among the figures attending the meeting with Zarif.
On 10 February, upon his arrival in Beirut international airport, Zarif stressed that the signs of democracy and resistance are very much visible in Lebanon.
Zarif's trip to Lebanon is his first official state visit to the country after formation of a new Lebanese government on 31 January 2019, headed by Saad al-Hariri.
After nine months of painstaking political negotiations, the new Lebanese government headed by Hariri was endorsed by all the various political groups.
Since Iran's foreign policy is aimed at boosting balanced ties with regional countries, Zarif's trip to Beirut is significant for the region.
Furthermore, Lebanon's resistance movement has formed a formidable barrier against the Zionist regime. Thus Iran and Lebanon have common enemies. 101/ 211 /201
