Iraqi President Barham Salih said on Thursday that strengthening Tehran-Baghdad relations is beneficial for regional security and stability.

Iran Press /Middle EastIraqi President Barham Salih on Thursday reiterated that promoting Tehran-Baghdad relations will benefit regional security and stability.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Baghdad late on Thursday, reported IRNA. 

During the meeting also attended by Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi, the two sides also discussed ways of boosting bilateral ties in different fields, particularly in the oil and gas sector. 

Zangeneh expressed his satisfaction with the level and quality of ties between Tehran and Baghdad and voiced Iran’s readiness to enhance ties further.

Zangeneh left Baghdad for Tehran on Thursday night after a day-long official visit to the neighbouring state.

Zangeneh arrived in Baghdad on Thursday morning at the head of a delegation and was welcomed by his Iraqi counterpart Thamir Abbas Ghadhban.

Furthermore, on the same day, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi discussed bilateral relations, and specially oil and energy ties between the two countries.  203/ 211/103
