Iran Press/Middle East: Iraqi Muslims and Islamic scholars attended a Memorial service to commemorate the late chairman of Iran's Expediency Council, Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, reported Iran Press.
Further More; Some of the Syrian Islamic scholars and citizens also attended a ceremony held in commemoration of the late Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi.
Elsewhere in Europe, Muslims showed their respect towards late Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi by attending his memorial service in the 'Islamic Centre of England', in London.
The Islamic Centre of England's mission is 'to provide services to members of the Muslim community, in particular, and the wider community at large', focusing on religious guidance and cultural issues.
A memorial service was also held in the Pakistan city of Lahore in honour of the learned scholar and cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.
On Thursday December 27, Iran's Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei attended a ceremony held in commemoration of the late Expediency Council Chairman.
Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi passed away in Khatam ul-Anbiya hospital in Tehran late on 24 December.
After a long battle with disease, Ayatollah Shahroudi passed away at the age of 70, a relative of his and an official from the hospital confirmed the news.
Shahroudi was born in Najaf, Iraq, in 1948 and had served as a member of the Guardian Council since 1994. He was also judiciary chief and member of Experts Council. As of 2017, he was also the chairman of the Expediency Council. 203/103
