Iran Foreign Minister Lefts Tehran to Doha

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, departed Tehran for Qatar on Saturday morning, to attend at international summit, "Doha Forum 2018".

Iran PressMiddle East: The 18th Doha Forum scheduled to be held on December 15-16 with the attendance of prominent international figures and political leaders from across the world, including United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

According to Iran Press, Doha Forum 2018 is to focus on regional challenges and international security.

Organized by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum plans to tackle various issues and challenges facing the international community.

The event is expected to be attended by a host of representatives from both the private sector and civil society.

Participants in 18th edition of Doha Forum will likely include Qatar Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and other Qatari Ministers, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Somalia Prime Minister, Nobel peace prize winner Nadia Murad, Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey , María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés President of the United Nations General Assembly, Japanese Foreign Minister Tar? K?no, Henrietta H. Fore UNICEF's Executive Director, Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Sir Mark Andrew Lowcock KCB, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and some of the most well-known international think-tank organizations.

In addition to political concerns, the forum's agenda will also focus on issues pertaining to economy, commerce, media, human rights, water and food security, energy, and the future of the Middle East.

On June 18, 2018 Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation with Emir of Qatar bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed hope that Tehran and Doha can use their potentials to enhance their bilateral relations.

Iranian FM will meet Qatari leaders on the sideline of the Forum. Last time on 3 October 2018, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif visited Qatar and held talks with Doha leaders including Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as well as with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sphere. Also the Qatari emir praised Iran’s view about the need to seek peaceful resolutions to regional conflicts and emphasized that Iran’s role in solving regional crises is essential.

Relations between Iran and Qatar have improved markedly since a dispute broke out between Doha and a Saudi-led bloc of Arab countries in June 2017. 101/205/211
