Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas met with an envoy dispatched by Sultan Qaboos of Oman in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Sunday.

Iran Press / Middle East: During the meeting, Salim bin Habib al-Amiri, Sultan Qaboos' envoy delivered a message from the Omani ruler to the Palestinian Authority, according to the official Wafa news agency.

No information was available about the content of the message, but Wafa said Sultan Qaboos thanked Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas for his recent visit to the Gulf country earlier this month.

Abbas praised Omani support for the Palestinians and underlined his keenness to promote coordination between the two sides, Wafa said.

Sultan Qaboos envoy's visit to Ramallah came after a rare visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Oman on Friday.

The rare visit by the Israeli Prime Minister to Oman — which was not publicized beforehand — comes days after Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas paid a three-day visit to Oman and also met Qaboos.

Head of the Supreme Committee of Yemen Revolution Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said that Prime Minister of the Zionist regime Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to keep Oman away of playing an effective role along with its' allies in future.

"Omani officials should take lesson from the countries that had relations with the Zionist regime and thus lost their people as well as other Arab nations", Head of the Supreme Committee of Yemen Revolution noted.

Oman and the Zionist regime have no diplomatic relations. Two decades ago and before signing an agreement between the Zionist regime and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Tel Aviv opened an office in Muscat, which was soon shut.

The last trip of a Zionist regime’s official to Oman dates back to 1996 when the incumbent Prime Minister Shimon Peres travelled to Oman and Qatar to open a trade agency. 201/105
