Gaza, which has been described as the world's largest open air prison for its population of nearly 2 million Palestinians, is a routine target of Israeli fighter jets. In addition, the Israeli regime controls the flow of all essential items, such as food and medicine, into the narrow sliver of land.
The Tel Aviv regime has collectively punished the population of Gaza by limiting drinking water and electricity supplies to the territory, and also by shutting down Gaza's crossing points.
Egypt has aided the Israeli regime in keeping Gaza isolated and cut-off from the rest of the world.

The Gaza Strip has been witnessing tensions since March 30, which marked the start of the “Great March of Return” protests demanding the right to return for the Palestinians driven out of their homeland.
The 30th Great march of return was held on October 19.

Those tensions saw a sharp rise on May 14, marking the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day (the Day of Catastrophe), which this year coincided with the US embassy relocation from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.
More than 200 Palestinians have so far been killed and over 20,000 others wounded in the renewed Gaza clashes, according to the latest figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry.
