Iran Press/ Iran news: The British embassy press office, in a letter to Iranian media and newspapers on Wednesday, had set preconditions for journalists and photographers wishing to attend a press conference by the British ambassador to Tehran on Thursday.
The letter said the British ambassador will deliver a speech in English, with no Persian translation provided, and no photographers will be allowed to take any photographs, reported Iran Press.
Also journalists will be barred from recording the British ambassador's speech, no recorders or mobile phones will be allowed in the press conference, and furthermore, the ambassador will refuse to answer any questions that journalists try to put to him, unless that question has been sent in advance in the days prior to the press conference so that British embassy staff are able to prepare an answer in the days before Thursday's press conference.
Fars News Agency said given the circumstances surrounding the press conference, and given the demeaning preconditions set by British officials, the news agency will boycott the press conference which will be little more than a British government propaganda session. 203/211
