Iran Press/Iran news: During Sunday's open session in Iranian Parliament, lawmakers agreed on a temporary agreement bill to set up a free trade zone between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
In the actual vote 174 lawmakers voted yes, 4 voted against a free trade zone, and there were 6 abstentions out of a total of 226 MPs present. The representative to central province of Arak, Ali Akbar Karimi said Iran is preparing for trade and business transactions with a global economy, reported Iran Press.
Karimi explained further that joining the Eurasian Union can be a prelude to Iran joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and enjoy its benefits and It will make it easier for us to join the WTO.
The MP went on to emphasise that the agreement is the most important event in free trade zones of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and can be economically beneficial for the country and contribute to creation of job opportunities as well.
Karimi said the decision might attract foreign investments in Northern and Southern Iran. However, the nay sayers believe that some parts of the agreement are rather vague and not clear, saying it might have an adverse effect on Iran's economy.
