Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif

IRGC spokesman has confirmed that IRGC and Basij volunteer forces will continue to provide assistance, relief and service to flood victims until all of their problems are resolved.

Iran Press/Iran news: Explaining the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) measures in relief operation for flood-stricken people, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif said: "Reducing human casualties, helping flood-stricken people, providing the essential needs of flood victims as nutrition, health, housing and transportation, as well as management of the crisis, and taking precautionary action to reduce the risk of future floods, are just some of the priorities of the IRGC."

According to an Iran Press report, Sharif went on to announce the deployment of two helicopters to rescue and transfer support packages to areas where aircraft cannot land, adding: "400 divers, marine mechanics, medical personnel, medical aid, and rescue is also present in flood-prone areas, especially in Khuzestan, engaged in flood-relief operations."

Record spring rainfall that has battered Iran in the past weeks caused serious flooding in many areas, mainly the provinces of Golestan, Lorestan, Khuzestan, Fars, and Ilam, forcing thousands to leave their homes.

While residents in some western areas are still in need of relief aid, the Army Ground Force, the IRGC, and Basij have deployed forces, heavy military machinery, aircraft and boats to the disaster zones.
