Iran Press/Iran news: 'Welcoming Iraq PM @AdilAbdAlMahd, senior ministerial & private sector delegation to Iran. Implementing accords reached during Pres. Rouhani's historic visit to Iraq. Determined to realize full potential of political, economic & security cooperation with our friend & neighbor,' Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday.
According to an Iran Press report, Iraqi prime minister arrived in Tehran at the official invitation of President Hassan Rouhani, heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation on Saturday morning. He was welcomed by Zarif upon arrival at Mehrabad international airport.
Earlier in a joint press conference with president Rouhani, Abdul-Mahdi said the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided significant aid to Iraq in the fight against terrorism so that the country is witnessing peace and stability.
Noting that the current positive developments in Iraq benefit both the Iraqi nation and the entire region, Abdul-Mahdi said the fact that Iraq has come to this place now is due in part to support from Iran.
Iraqi prime minister is slated to visit the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) in the city of Mashhad, northeastern Iran, during his visit.
Al-Hakim is accompanying prime minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi on his trip to Tehran.
He was welcomed by foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif upon arrival at Mehrabad international airport in Tehran. 103/211
