Rouhani urges IRGC & Army for aid operations in flood-hit areas

The Iranian President has urged IRGC and Army officials to expedite aid operations in the flood-stricken regions of the country.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani urged Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and Army authorities to accelerate aid operations in flood-stricken areas, and to redouble their efforts to drain and discharge floodwaters.

He made the remarks in today’s meeting of Disaster Management and expressed his special thanks to the IRGC and Army forces for rendering quality relief and rescue services to people in flood-stricken areas, Mehr News Agency reported.

President also called on all responsible officials and organizations to make every effort to drain and discharge floodwaters from the provinces severely hit by torrential floods.

President Rouhani thanked Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli for his timely presence in flood-hit areas and overseeing of aid operations.

Also present at the meeting was the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani.

Several days of heavy rain has resulted in unprecedented flash floods in northern Iran that began on March 19, with water levels rising dangerously in rivers in central and western Mazandaran. 104/213
