Tehran (IP)-Members of Iranian Majlis (parliament) ratified the budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year of 1398 (beginning on 21 March 2019) proposed by the government of President Hassan Rouhani.

Iran Press/Iran news:  Iranian MPs discussed economic issues and the budget bill on Saturday's open session of the parliament (Majlis).

On Saturday afternoon, MPs heard arguments both for and against the budget bill.

When the bill was put to the vote, from a total of 212 MPs present in the open session, 117 voted in favor of the budget bill, 86 voted against, and 8 MPs abstained from voting. Thus the bill was approved by the parliament (Majlis) with a majority of MPs voting in favour, Iran Press reported.

Next year’s budget bill is prepared according to the current economic situation of the country, especially the recent fluctuations in foreign currency market.

Earlier, head of Iran’s Planning and Budget Organization Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht has said  that given the US sanctions against Iran, the government has planned the budget in a way that the country's economic problems, including the rate of inflation and unemployment, will be contained.  105 / 211
