Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN called Israel a "child-killer regime", by referring to the Zionist regime's crimes against the Palestinians.

Iran Press/Iran news: Addressing the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Es'hagh Al-e Habib cited Israel's ongoing settlement plans, its inauguration of an 'apartheid highway', and its recently enacted law aimed at ensuring the institutionalization of racism.

Racism is the very nature of the Israeli regime,” he emphasized, describing such policies as shameful and meriting condemnation in the strongest possible terms, Iran Press reported.

Asking why the systematic violation of the inherent rights of Palestinians has been allowed to continue for the last 70 years, Iran envoy pointed out that the US has shielded Israel and thereby rendered the Council “absolutely ineffective” on the matter.

He went on to call for full Palestinian membership in the United Nations.

Noting that Israel has been emboldened by such impunity, he said it has waged more than 15 wars and invaded and occupied numerous lands over its short history.

“The gross systematic violation of territory and sovereignty or all regional countries by Israel must stop,” he stressed, calling for the latter to be held accountable for its actions.

All countries in the region have the right to defend themselves against an armed attack by Israel, he said, calling upon the international community to continue to support the realization of Palestinian rights and reject further occupation, aggression, oppression, and intimidation.

On Jan 15, 2019, a report by the Palestinian human rights center revealed that Israeli forces have killed at least 54 Palestinian children and arrested over 900 others since the beginning of 2018.

The report says 80 percent of the children were killed during demonstrations in the so-called buffer zone in the Gaza strip.

The report also condemned what it described as Israel’s systematic violation of Palestinian children’s rights.

According to the group’s investigation, conducted by the Palestinian Center for Study and Documentation, Israel's rights violations are not limited to the trial of children in military courts, but it starts from the moment of arrest.

The report said Israelis carry out interrogation sessions in which children are often handcuffed, blindfolded, beaten and insulted.

Figures show that more than 2,100 Palestinian children have been martyred and over 13,000 wounded by Israeli live bullets since the outbreak of al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.101/210
