UN opposition to Anti Hamas resolution, a defeat for US, Israel: Iran's ambassador
Iran's ambassador to Britain has said, UN opposition to the US resolution against Hamas has been a tough defeat for US and Israel.
Iran's ambassador to Britain added, United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley who had said upon, appointment that she knew nothing of the UN and aimed to defend the Israeli regime, had a bitter farewell, Iran press reported.
The UN General Assembly in its Thursday evening session did not give required two-thirds majority votes to the US proposed draft.
The 193-member world body, gave 87 votes in favor, 57 against and 33 abstentions to the US proposed draft to condemn Hamas.
US inability to pass the draft resolution marks another failure for the US and the Zionist regime and the Europeans that backed the US this time.
The resolution attempted to condemn Hamas for carrying out rocket attacks against the Zionist regime and using "airborne incendiary devices" against Israelis living in occupied Palestinian lands.
The resolution came weeks after Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups fired over 400 rockets into Israel during a two-day flare-up of violence following a botched Israeli attack against a Hamas commander.
US Ambassador to UN, Nikki Haley said before the vote that the assembly could make history condemning Hamas, which she referred to as "one of the most obvious and grotesque cases of terrorism in the world."105/210
