Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, responding to US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's allegation that Iran's missile program is violating UNSCR 2231, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghassemi said Iran's missile program is a defensive program and designed according to the needs of the country.

Ghassemi stressed, "No resolution has ever banned Iran's missile program or missile tests", adding, "This is interesting and of course ridiculous that you (Pompeo) are referring to a resolution that you have not only violated by illegal and unilateral withdrawal of JCPOA, but also encourage other countries to violate it and even threatened them with punishment and imposing sanctions in case they do not obey."

In a tweet on Saturday, Pompeo claimed that Islamic Republic of Iran has just test-fired a medium range ballistic missile that’s capable of carrying multiple warheads.
Referring to no document, he claimed “This test violates UNSCR 2231,” citing the United Nations Security Council’s endorsement of the international nuclear agreement and added: “We condemn this act.”
Repeating Pompeo's claims against Tehran, UK foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt wrote in a tweet on Saturday that London is concerned about Iran's missile program.
The coordinated campaign of US and UK against Iran is while former spokesperson for EU foreign affairs & security policy, Nabila Massrali earlier announced that Iran's missile tests are not in violation of the JCPOA.
US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew Washington from the nuclear agreement in May and reintroduced sanctions on Iran in August.
