The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference opened in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Saturday morning with high-ranking officials from Muslim countries as well as Shiite and Sunni scholars in attendance.

Iran PressIran news: The aim of this three-day international event is to lay the ground for unity and solidarity in the Islamic World and unison among scholars in order to achieve proximity among their scientific and cultural viewpoints.

According to Iran Press, the 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference was inaugurated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

The conference came as Muslims are celebrating the Unity Week, which is an annual occasion as a sign of solidarity among different Islamic schools of thought. The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will start this week on Sunday.

The theme of the conference is ‘Quds pivot of Islamic unity’ and 350 foreign guests, including 10 ministers and 40 Muftis from Muslim states are taking part in the 32nd Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.

The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) is organizer of the 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference.

The international event aired live by 30 satellite TV channels, including Iran Press, IRIB 1, Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) as well as IRIB Quran.
