Iran's Foreign Minister said on Monday that Tehran is ready to cooperate with the UN in all fields in Afghanistan and is to back peace initiatives in the country.

Iran press / Iran news: Iran calls for restoration of stability, security in Afghanistan, Mohamad Javad Zarif said, adding that Tehran is ready to cooperate with UN in all fields in Afghanistan while fully back peace initiatives in the war-torn country. 

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto in Tehran on Monday, IRNA reported.

Recently, in a meeting  with chairman of the Afghan high peace council, Mohammad Karim Khalili, Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to the significance of peace and stability as well as strengthening of national unity and sympathy in Afghanistan and said there is no way other than national dialogue and understanding for restoring peace and stability to the country.The peace process only belongs to the Afghan people, Zarif added.

The UN envoy, for his part, appreciated the supports made by the Islamic Republic of Iran for restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan and called for continued constructive role and presence of Iran in the upcoming Geneva conference on Afghanistan. 

Geneva conference on Afghanistan will be jointly hosted by Afghan government and United Nations, he said. 105
