In an exclusive interview with Iran Press,Hossein-Ali Amiri, the vice president for parliamentary affairs has said that the president believes Mohammad Shariatmadari can be efficient in the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare.
Iran Press correspondent: According to many experts and economic activists, as well as some of MPs, Mohammad Shariatmadari had a weak record during his one-year term in office at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade but the government has nominated him this time for the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare. Why?
Amiri: Where is the source of evaluation for defining weak or good record of a minister? the government has its own certain criteria for evaluating its ministers and members of cabinet. So, if one person says a minister has not a good record or even has a good record, we cannot judge that minister based on that word and it is not reasonable doing so. Mr. Shariatmadari has some good achievements during his one-year term in office. There might be some weaknesses and shortcomings in the ministry but we cannot lay the blame just on the minister for these shortcomings. Sometimes rules hinder attempts at progress.However, Rouhani's decision, as president of the country, determines his colleagues in the government and he believes that regarding the managerial background, Mohammad. Shariatmadari can be efficient in the ministry of cooperatives, labour and social welfare.
According to exclusive report by Iran press news agency, the member of Iran's parliament presiding board, Ali Asghar Yousefnejad said on Sunday in Majlis open session that according to principle of 133 in the Constitution, the names of the four candidates who are considered as potential ministers have been announced to win vote of confidence by the parliamentarians.
The names of the four candidates are as follows:
1. Mohammad Eslami, the candidate for the Ministry of Road and Urban Development.
2. Reza Rahmani, the candidate for the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.
3. Farhad Dezhpasand, the candidate for Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
4. Mohammad Shariatmadari, the candidate for Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social welfare.
In the letter, dated September 1 and addressed to president Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s Minister of Road and Urban Development, Abbas Akhoundi announced his resignation and asked the president to accept his decision.
Mohammad Shariatmadari also resigned from his position as a minister.
