An Iranian weightlifter received a gold medal on Sunday, in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

Iran press/ Iran news: Iranian weightlifter Alireza Yousefi in the weight category of +85 kg received a gold medal in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games reported IRNA.

Yousefi was also named as the most powerful boy of the games. He lifted 150 kg, 156 kg and 162 kg weights in snatch category.

In clean and jerk category, he lifted 202 kg, 211 kg and 218 kg weights and grabbed a gold medal.

Amir Reza Dehbozorgi and Mohammad Nosrati snatched the gold medals in the 45 kg and 92 kg weight classes respectively. The Iranian sports delegation consists of 49 male and female athletes competing in 17 sporting events.

On 12 October, Iranian athletes gained three gold and one silver medal in Taekwondo at the Youth Olympic Games held in Argentina’s Capital Buenos Aires.

Earlier, Yalda Valinejad in the minus 63 kg category and Ali Eshkevarian in the minus 73 kg category grabbed gold medals.


The third Summer Youth Olympic Games, also called Buenos Aires 2018, is underway in the Argentine capital from October 6-18 with 4,000 athletes, aged 15-18, from 206 countries and areas competing in 32 fields.
