Participants at the ‘Regional Security Dialogue’ meeting in Tehran in the final statement said terrorism, narcotics, organized crimes and foreign interference in the region, endanger national security in countries of the region.

Iran Press/Irannews: Participants at the ‘Regional Security Dialogue’ meeting in Tehran on Wednesday issued a communique at the end of their meeting on Wednesday.

According to Iran Press, the communique, approved by the national security chiefs of Iran, Russia, China, India and Afghanistan, makes the following points:

( 1 )  Terrorism, drugs, organised crime, and foreign military intervention all threaten the national security of regional countries and they adversely affects the prospects for economic growth and development and social advancement of regional countries. They also threaten the peace of the region.

( 2 ) Extremism, violence, and radicalism are some of the most important causes of terrorism, and extremist and radical viewpoints and mentality  must be challenged in all of their forms.

(3 ) Policies and actions which support and encourage extremism and radicalism in the region, are a real threat for regional security. All the participants at the conference agree to cooperate to confront policies and actions which lead to extremism , and they declare their commitment to sustainable peace in the region .

( 4 ) The participants of the conference stress that terrorism cannot, and should not be associated with any particular religion, nationality, creed or ethnicity.

( 5 ) The participants of the conference declare their support for the effective actions undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in confronting and combating terrorists, including Daesh (ISIS ) terrorists, in Syria.

( 6 ) The participants of the conference express their concern about relocation of terrorists from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan and central Asia. The participants call for swift coordinated action to stop relocation of terrorist groups to Afghanistan and Central Asia.

( 7 ) The participants of the conference stress the need to combat cultivation and production of drugs and narcotics, as a means to finance terrorism.

( 8 ) The participants of the conference support peace and stability, development and reconstruction of Afghanistan , and encourage other countries to support the peace process between the Afghan government and the Taliban.

The meeting, hosted by Iran's National Security Council and held at Parsian Azadi Hotel in northern Tehran, was attended by security officials from Russia, India, Afghanistan, and China.
